FanGraphs updated their Top 100 Prospect list today with four New York Mets included with Amed Rosario rated the best at No. 2.
Following Rosario is first baseman Dominic Smith at No. 53, shortstop Andres Gimenez at No. 75 and left-handed pitcher David Peterson at No. 81.
Earlier this week FanGraphs also released their updated Mets Top 10 which looked like this:
- Amed Rosario (SS, Majors)
- Dominic Smith (1B, Majors)
- Andres Gimenez (SS, Fireflies)
- David Peterson (LHP, Cyclones)
- Justin Dunn (RHP, St. Lucie)
- Ronny Mauricio (SS, N/A)
- Mark Vientos (SS/3B, GCL)
- Chris Flexen (RHP, Majors)
- Thomas Szapucki (LHP, Fireflies)
- Peter Alonso (1B, St. Lucie)
It’s not a surprise to see Gimenez ranked third among Mets prospects and No. 75 among baseball given what he’s done (.274/.345/.347) as an 18-year-old in the South Atlantic League.
Peterson was the Mets first round pick this year and has thrown only 2.2 innings for Brooklyn after already throwing over 100 innings for Oregon this year.
On the Mets top 10 list, I’m a little surprised to see Mauricio that high without playing and being only 16-years old, but the kid has a high ceiling and received a new team record $2.1 million signing bonus on July 2.
Szapucki would likely be higher on this list if not for his recent Tommy John surgery.
