With the Mets in the midst of a seven-game losing streak coming into last night’s contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team was visibly frustrated and had just received bad news prior to the game, with Sandy Alderson taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team.

However, the Mets fortunes changed at night as the team had a come-from-behind, ten inning walk-off victory.

And by who would the Mets be led to this by?

Wilmer Flores, who has the most walk-off RBI since 2014 with nine, of course.

In the tenth inning, with Michael Conforto on second and Todd Frazier on first, Flores laced a double down the third base line that just barely stayed fair as it went into the corner to allow Conforto to score to win the game 4-3.

That was second hit and third RBI of the night as he plated the team’s first two runs of the game as well.

Simply put, as previously mentioned, the 26-year old has a knack for delivering in the clutch. His nine walk-off RBI in his career also tie him with David Wright for the most in franchise history and at this rate, there is no reason to believe he couldn’t break that record, potentially before the end of this season even.

Flores has not been just delivering in the clutch this year, by any means, though, as he is red hot this month as he has driven in a run in each of his last four games and has reached base in each of the last 12 games he has appeared in.

Going off that, Flores is hitting .289/.326/.526 this month with two home runs and 12 RBI which has led to an improvement in his season line to .258/.322/.430 with five home runs and 25 RBI.

Regardless of that, though, three things in life are constant: death, taxes, and Wilmer Flores delivering in the big moment.
