Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that Chris Flexen is heading to Colorado to join the team. As he points out, the Mets bullpen threw 5 2/3 innings in last night’s 10-8 loss to the Rockies.
Flexen has made one major league appearance for the team this season in which he threw 57 pitches in two innings while allowing seven runs (three earned), eight hits, and three walks while striking out only one batter.
He hasn’t done too great in the minor leagues this year either as he has gone 4-6 with a 5.43 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 12 games (11 starts).
The team is currently carrying eight relievers so it is likely that one of Hansel Robles or Chris Beck will be sent down/DFA’d, given the fact both were ineffective last night.
