Miami Marlins v New York Mets

The Mets’ 2013 first-round pick Dominic Smith, made his professional debut today for the GCL Mets and went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Smith started at first base for the Mets and grounded out in first at-bat in the second inning. But in the fourth inning he singled to drive home left fielder Vicente Lupo, picking up his first hit and RBI as a pro.

Smith would single again in his fourth and final at-bat in the bottom of the ninth.

Also starting was center fielder Ivan Wilson, whom the Mets selected in the third round of this year’s draft. Wilson walked and stole a base in the game which the GCL Mets lost 3-2 to the GCL Nationals.
