Here is a story from our minor league coverage yesterday over at MetsMinors.net.

The Arizona Fall League came to an end over the weekend when the Scottsdale Scorpions won the championship game. The guys over at MLB Pipeline chose their 13 man All-AFL Team and Dominic Smith was the only Met to make the team. He along with seven other Mets prospects played for the Salt River Rafters this fall. You can read our Mets AFL recap here.

Smith was chosen as the team’s first baseman after hitting .362/.483/.511 with four doubles, a home run, six RBI, eight runs scored, and 12 walks in 14 games. He missed two weeks of the season with a strained oblique including the Fall Stars game that he was also named to.

Besides his work at the plate, Smith drew rave reviews for his defense all season in the Florida State League and that continued in the AFL where scouts came away impressed with his range and glovework at first base.

The Mets’ number 5 prospect according to MLB.com was the 2015 Florida State League Most Valuable Player after hitting .305/.354/.417 while leading all hitters with 33 doubles and 79 RBI.
