New York Mets assistant GM John Ricco announced on Wednesday that Jeurys Familia threw his first bullpen session since being placed on the disabled list in May.
Familia could begin a rehab assignment soon and is expected to be a few weeks away. Due to his suspension and arterial clot, Familia has been limited to 11 games this year.
From 2014–2016, Familia had led all major league relievers in both appearances (230) and innings (233.0).
Ricco also mentioned that Noah Syndergaard is playing long toss and that Matt Harvey is progressing in his rehab.
