As per MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia is experiencing some discomfort in his throwing arm.

Familia got touched up a bit today as he allowed five runs in 1.1 inings and made his remarks after his appearance.

Familia said his arm felt a little “tight” today, and said, “For me, as a pitcher, it’s normal, ” referring to his yearly adjustment to beginning to throw again on a daily basis.

Up until today’s appearance, Familia hadn’t let up an earned run in four innings. He is projected to be the closer for the Mets though manager Mickey Callaway has said he can use Familia in a variety of situations.

Familia missed a large portion of the 2017 due to a suspension and surgery to repair a blood clot in his right armpit.

He had a 4.38 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 24.2 big league innings last season after leading the National League with 51 saves in 2016.
