The firing of Buck Showalter has left the New York Mets with the responsibility of finding a new manager this off-season. Many have been described as potential candidates for the position, but at this stage in the process, it is difficult to gauge who will become the team’s manager in the end. Let’s take a look at the betting odds on BetOnline for the next manager of the Mets.

Craig Counsell, who has managed the Milwaukee Brewers for the last nine seasons, is now a free agent. David Stearns, the Mets news president of baseball operations, had a strong relationship with the skipper during their time in Milwaukee together. Counsell is currently the betting favorite at +200.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Mark DeRosa, who managed Team USA at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, is also set at +1000. Former Met Carlos Beltran, someone who was hired for this job in the past, is back in the mix at +1200.
