Edwin Díaz has been named the National League Reliever of the Month for August. This is the third consecutive month that Díaz has won the award.

This was the 8th time the Mets closer has won the National League Reliever of the Month award. Díaz holds the record for most awards in both the American and National League.

This was the second time in MLB history that a reliever has won the award in three consecutive months. The first time it had happened was also by Edwin Díaz.

In the month of August, Díaz only allowed one run in 10 2/3 innings pitched. The flamethrower also struck out 16 batters while only allowing five hits.

This is also the third consecutive month where Edwin Díaz has not allowed a home-run. The last home-run Díaz gave up was on May 12, to Juan Soto in a game against the Nationals.

Edwin Díaz has recorded 29 saves in 53 1/3 innings pitched. He has an ERA of 1.52 while averaging 17 strike-outs per nine innings, all while leading MLB in games finished at 42.
