mets win

With the Mets’ magic number now at ten games, New York can clinch the division title as early as this Sunday against the Yankees. The Mets will play the second game of their nine game homestand tonight before going on a road trip to Cincinnati and Philadelphia starting Thursday the 24th.

“To clinch here would be very, very special, but to clinch would be more special,” Terry Collins said Monday. “I don’t care where it’s at. To be able to clinch any place, any time, it would be a huge boost not only to our organization but to your fan base to say, ‘Look, thanks for all the support and continued support.’”

How great would it be if the Mets could clinch at home against the Yankees? Of course, that’s unlikely to happen, but I won’t be surprised if the Mets can lock it all up at home sometime during the series against Atlanta.

The Mets don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon as they are in the midst of an incredible eight game winning streak.  It also helps that the Nationals continue to play uninspiring baseball after being labeled as the World Series favorites in the offseason by most experts.

Some fans were afraid of witnessing another September collapse, but it was clear that this team wasn’t going to allow that to happen. The Mets simply over matched Washington and outplayed them all year long.

Now just a matter of time before the Mets are crowned the champions of the National League East.
