According to Mets manager Terry Collins, newly acquired reliever Addison Reed is the team’s permanent seventh inning man out of the bullpen.

“He’s the guy, no doubt,” said Collins to reporters after last night’s comeback win over the Marlins.

Reed, 26, was acquired from the Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league pitchers Miller Diaz and Matt Koch. He will be under team control for two more seasons and will be second-year arbitration-eligible this Winter.

With the D’backs, Reed had a 4.20 ERA in 40 2/3 innings. However since coming to the Mets, he has not allowed a run in nine appearances, while collecting 11 strikeouts in 9.0 innings with 3 holds and one save.

In the his last two appearances, Reed earned the save in the Mets’ 10-7 extra-inning win over the Braves on Sunday, and last night he came in the 8th inning and tossed a 1-2-3 inning, seeting up Familia for the save in the 9th.
