Dominic Smith returned from the bereavement list ahead of the series finale with the Nationals on Monday, the team announced.

Smith was placed on the list before Friday’s game, so he missed just the four weekend games. He’ll be available off the bench for Monday’s game. Smith is slashing .247/.307/.365/.672 this season in 417 at-bats. He’d been splitting time in left field with Jeff McNeil and will likely continue to do so as the two look to get back on track at the plate.

In a corresponding roster move, the Mets sent Chance Sisco back to Triple-A. He was the third catcher on the roster after James McCann returned from the injured list Saturday. Sisco played in just one game since being recalled on August 31, and he went 0-for-4.

The Mets also announced Stephen Nogosek, who’d been on the injured list since July 24 with shoulder inflammation, was activated off the IL and optioned to Triple-A. Nogosek appeared in one game in the majors for the Mets on July 20, when he threw three innings in place of Robert Stock, who left the game against the Reds with a hamstring injury. Nogosek kept the Mets in a game during a bumpy stretch against the Pirates and Reds where their bullpen was being overworked. They ultimately lost the July 20 game 4-3.
