Smith Dominic

Last night the Arizona Fall League started with the Salt River Rafters winning their first game of the season 5-3 over the Scottsdale Scorpions. The Rafters offense was helped by Dominic Smith who was 2 for 3 with a walk, run scored and two doubles. Both doubles were off San Francisco Giants left-handed prospect Adalberto Mejia, one to left field and one pulled down the line in right.

Smith is coming of a player of the year season for the St. Lucie Mets when he led the Florida State League with 33 doubles. Here you can watch Smith take batting practice before the game via Josh Norris twitter feed. Smith batted third and played the entire game at first base for the Rafters.

Gavin Cecchini had a strong night as well, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a walk out of the number two-hole in the lineup while playing shortstop for the whole game.

Mets left-handed pitching prospect Kyle Regnault gave up one run on a hit and two walks in the 7th inning. The St. Lucie Mets reliever also struck out two in his AFL debut.
