dominic smith

At the Winter Meetings today, the Arizona Fall League announced their Top Prospect Team that consists of the 20 best players from the 2015 season. Dominic Smith was the only Mets prospect named to the team with him and Sam Travis from the Red Sox being the first baseman selected. The team is selected by the leagues managers and coaches.

The 20-year old Smith hit .362/.483/.511 with four doubles, homerun, six RBI, eight runs scored, and 12 walks compared to 10 strikeouts in 47 at bats spanning 14 games. He was elected to the Arizona League Fall Stars Team but was unable to participate because of injury. He missed two weeks of play with an oblique injury before returning during the last week of action.

He has received a long list of accolades for his play in the AFL including being named to MLB Pipeline’s All-AFL Team while Jim Callis at MLB.com and Baseball America both listed him as the 7th best prospect in the league. He was also part of the Bowman Hitting Challenge for the top hitters in the fall league and you can watch him compete here.
