The New York Mets (76-71) were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers (96-52) on Friday night Citi Field by the score of 9-2. The Dodgers broke the Mets four-game winning streak.

Pitching

Noah Syndergaard pitched five innings in his start tonight against the Dodgers. He allowed four earned runs, five hits, and walked two batters.  Thor was dominant for the first three innings, but after a 10-pitch walk to Cody Bellinger, and that’s when Noah began to struggle in the fourth inning.

Jeurys Familia came into pitch the sixth inning down 4-1, he allowed one earned run in one and two thirds innings.

Luis Avilan got the nod for the seventh. He did not have his command tonight as he struggled allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk.

Walker Lockett gave up a two-run homer to rookie Edwin Rios to give the Dodgers a 9-2 cushion in the eighth inning.

After the game Mickey Callaway spoke about Noah Syndergaard’s performance he stated that it was only one or two bad pitches that Syndergaard threw.

Offense

The offense was lacking against one of the best pitchers in the league as the Mets were only able to salvage five hits across the board.

J.D Davis hit his 19th home-run of the year off of Clayton Kershaw into the left-field seats to score the first run of the game giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.

Amed Rosario drove in the second run for the Mets with the bases-loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the deficit to five runs. That was Rosario’s 61st RBI of the season.

The Mets had their opportunity tonight in offense but they left seven runners on base and they went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
