According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, New York Mets infielder T.J. Rivera is expected to return to the team before the season concludes. The 29-year-old Bronx native underwent UCL reconstruction surgery during winter.

After beginning his rehab assignment with Advanced-A St. Lucie on July 5 and experiencing some discomfort in his elbow, the organization moved him along to Triple-A Las Vegas on July 13.

On July 20, as per Tim Healey of Newsday, Rivera was diagnosed with a sprained right elbow. He’s been inactive ever since. He was seen recently taking batting practice and ground balls in Port St. Lucie with David Wright.

In 319 career at-bats, Rivera has a slash line of .304/.335/.445 with eight home runs, seventeen doubles, and 43 runs batted in.

During his six-game rehab stint this season, he went 4-for-22.
