According to Matt Ehalt of The Record, CAA agents Jeff Berry and Matt Ricatto arrived in Port St. Lucie on Thursday morning. Berry and Ricatto now represent Mets ace Jacob deGrom, whom was previously represented by new Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen.

The big story for early on in Mets camp was a Opening Day deadline set by the Mets and deGrom to come to terms on an extension for the 2018 National League Cy Young winner.

When deGrom held a press conference last week he said that he had yet to receive an extension offer from the Mets. Despite that, Van Wagenen said he wanted deGrom with the Mets for the long haul

DeGrom, 30, agreed with the Mets on a $17 million salary for 2019 rather than go to arbitration. The right-hander is arbitration eligible again at the end of the 2019, and he becomes a free agent after the 2020 season.
