Tim Healey of Newsday confirmed after today’s game that Jacob deGrom is scheduled to start tomorrow’s game against the Miami Marlins after being scratched today due to inclement weather. Mickey Callaway spoke to reporters and said the weather is expected to clear up before Monday night’s contest.

Jason Vargas was slated to start tomorrow, but he will likely either be pushed back to Tuesday or maybe even skipped entirely now.

The Mets have officially announced that rookie right-hander Corey Oswalt will be making the start this afternoon against the Philadelphia Phillies instead of Jacob deGrom. Today’s game was scheduled for 1:10 PM, but was delayed a half hour due to inclement weather that, per the forecast, may return later in the day. It’s not clear when deGrom will make his next start, though the substitution is almost certainly a precautionary measure with a potentially inconsistent set of innings up ahead.

Oswalt’s last start this year came against the Phillies on August 16, when he allowed four homers and nine hits through six innings, but still came away with the win as the Mets supported him with 24 runs of their own.

Since then, Oswalt has struggled brutally to get outs, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits in his last four and two-thirds innings. He last appeared in the team’s 11-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing five earned runs while failing to record an out. Hopefully, he can turn a corner in today’s rubber game, as the Mets will gear up to play spoiler.
