Jacob deGrom made his second rehab start of the season for the St. Lucie Mets on Friday night in Daytona.

After going 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball with five strikeouts in his first start on Sunday, deGrom went three innings in this start.

DeGrom, pitching less than 30 miles from where he grew up in DeLand, Florida, had a ton of family in the crowd on Friday night including his wife, parents, kids, sisters, and brothers-in-law.

In the first inning, deGrom struck out two in a 1-2-3 frame. His fastball was consistently 99 in the inning and his last fastball was 101 mph. His slider was up to 94 mph. The right-hander tossed 14 pitches, 11 strikes in the first.

DeGrom worked around a one-out double to toss a scoreless second inning on only eight pitches. His fastball started at 97/98 in the inning but finished off at 100.

The Mets ace had to work around two singles to toss a scoreless third inning. He also struck out three in the inning including the final batter on a 99 mph fastball.

DeGrom was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right scapula early in early April. The two-time Cy Young Award winner last pitched in the big leagues on July 7th of last year.
