The Mets have announced that David Wright will be the designated hitter for Single-A St. Lucie on Tuesday night in their game against the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Wright, 34, has missed the entirety of the 2017 season thus far with a right shoulder impingement, however he began baseball activities earlier this month.

It’s been rough for the third baseman, who has appeared in just 75 games total over the last two seasons.

There is no one who wants to be on the field more than the captain and just him being able to play through his spinal stenosis that he was diagnosed with in 2015 is incredible.

Wright owns a 49.9 career WAR and is a career .296/.376/.491 hitter across 13 big league seasons.
