A great column this morning by Kevin Kernan of the New York Post, on the eve of the World Series when Matt Harvey will take the mound at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City for Game 1.

Kernan spoke to David Wright about the whole innings drama regarding Harvey last month and the Mets third baseman said he never lost faith in the Mets ace and that it was never the distraction the media was portraying it to be.

“For him, the whole drama about the innings thing was because there was an unknown,’’ Wright told The Post. “When he wouldn’t answer questions about the future, everybody jumped all over him, so I think the biggest mistake he made in that whole situation was just going and talking to the media without having a plan in place.”

“I think a lot of the outside things the Mets have gone through don’t quite reflect there are bigger stories in there, it’s bigger drama outside the clubhouse than it is in the clubhouse,’’ Wright noted. “The outside drama very rarely makes it into the clubhouse.’’

Kernan adds that the World Series is Harvey’s stage right now and all four projected starters are oozing with incredible confidence.

“They should be confident,’’ Wright said with a smile on his face. “If I threw 100 I’d be confident too.’’
