New York Mets third base prospect David Thompson closed out the regular season hitting .289/.343/.520 with nine doubles, eight home runs and 22 RBI in his last 166 plate appearances spanning 42 games. That hot stretch has now carried over to the Arizona Fall League where he is making the most of his playing time.

On Thursday night, Thompson went 3 for 4 with a home run off Atlanta Braves prospect Touki Toussaint (video below), double, walk, RBI and three runs scored for the Scottsdale Scorpions in their 13-7 win.

Thompson is now 8 for 19 with four doubles, home run, two walks and five runs scored in five AFL games this offseason. His .789 slugging percentage is the third highest in the league.

Remember this is the guy that hit 55 home runs to set the Florida state high school record that was previously held by Alex Rodriguez.

“It’s been a ton of fun,” Thompson told William Boor of MLB.com after the game. “I just like being around all these really good players and picking the brains of them guys on the team — their hitting approach and things like that. It’s been a lot of fun.”

Mets minor leaguers had a big hand in the 18-hit barrage for the Scorpions with Luis Guillorme going 2 for 6 and Kevin Kaczmarski going 2 for 4 with a walk, stolen base, two RBI and three runs scored. Tomas Nido was the only Scorpions batter without a hit on the day, he went 0 for 5 with a walk.

Kaczmarski has a hit in all five games he’s played in and has four multi-hit games. He is 10 for 21 with two walks, two stolen bases, four RBI and six runs scored. His .522 OBP is fourth in the AFL and his 10 hits are tied for third.

Defensive wizard Guillorme has himself off to a hot start as well, going 7 for 18 in four games.

Mets relief prospect Matt Pobereyko threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts out of the Scorpions bullpen. He now has 4.2 scoreless with seven strikeouts, zero walks and four hits allowed.

The right-handed Pobereyko had 53 strikeouts and held opponents to a .205 average for the Columbia Fireflies after signing out of Indy Ball this season.
