According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, the Mets will activate David Peterson from the injured list today, and he will start game two of the twi-night doubleheader against the Yankees. The Mets have not announced a corresponding move.

Michael Wacha will start in game one against Jordan Montgomery of the Yankees.

Peterson is 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA and a 4.03 FIP. His last start was on August 13th against the Nationals, after which he disclosed that he was feeling some discomfort behind his left shoulder.

The reactivation of Peterson and Wacha is welcome news for the Mets, who have been strapped for starting pitching. They have had to convert Seth Lugo to a starting role, use Robert Gsellman in the rotation, and dip into their player pool for Corey Oswalt.

The Mets still do not have a starter named for the single game on Saturday. Lugo and Rick Porcello would be lined up to pitch in Sunday’s doubleheader, as they started the two games of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

The Mets seem to be getting healthier at the right time, as there are four weeks and 31 games left in the regular season.
