The New York Mets are heading in a new direction in 2021, as new team owner Steve Cohen has brought optimism and hope to the franchise, which struggled greatly this past season.

With the return of Sandy Alderson to the front office, and the commitment to keep Luis Rojas on board as the manger, the faces are familiar but the team’s outlook has changed.

Rojas spoke to this shift and the excitement it has brought when talking with MLB.com’s Nathalie Alonso about his expectations heading into next season.

“The excitement of thinking about what it’s going to be like and the talk of how active we’re going to be this offseason with the goal of being a competitive team next year, that’s something that motivates you to prepare even more and keep growing within the game,” Rojas said

If there is one thing that Rojas is sure to have in his second season at the helm, it’s a motivated clubhouse that is committed to making the Mets a winner under Cohen. Ever since the sale was made official, we have heard from Mets’ players like Noah Syndergaard and Marcus Stroman about their appreciation of Cohen and his goals.

Now last year’s rookie standout David Peterson has joined his rotation mates in heaping praise on the new owner. In an interview with MLB Network Radio, Peterson talked about Stroman’s return and how Cohen impacted that decision.

Stroman responded to our post of Peterson’s interview on Twitter, praising the young starter who he looks forward to competing with on Cohen’s Mets.

As we are on the eve of Thanksgiving, it is clear there is a lot to be thankful for right now when it comes to the New York Mets. There has not been this much enthusiasm surrounding this team in years and it doesn’t look like that is going away any time soon.
