After all that talk about the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, it was time for the Major League Baseball Players’ Association to elect new leadership.

Per Adam Rubin of ESPN, Mets outfielder Curtis Granderson and journeyman pitcher Carlos Villanueva were elected as Association Player Representatives, the highest elected position in the Union membership. They will serve two-year terms.

The next highest positions, Alternate Association Player Representative, have been filled by Mets starter Matt Harvey and Indians reliever Andrew Miller.

Curtis Granderson, 35, also won the Roberto Clemente Award earlier this fall for his exemplary efforts on and off the field and in his community.

Having two of the four highest elected positions in the MLBPA filled by Grandy and the Dark Knight says a lot about the kind of players the Mets organization attracts. Another reason I am proud to be a Mets fan.
