The Chicago Cubs have agreed to sign right-handed reliever Steve Cishek according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The deal is pending a physical.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports that the deal is worth two-years somewhere in the range of $12-14 million.

Cishek, 31, had a very successful season in 2017 as he pitched to the tune of a 2.01 ERA and 0.896 WHIP while striking out 41 batters in 44 2/3 innings pitched and 49 appearances.

The submarine pitcher especially performed well last season after he was traded from the Seattle Mariners to the Tampa Bay Rays at the end of July. With the Rays, Cishek appeared in 26 games and only gave up runs in one of those outings. In 24 2/3 innings Cishek had a 1.09 ERA and 0.811 WHIP while striking out 26 batters.

The Mets had expressed interest in Cishek before they signed Anthony Swarzak.
