The Mets announced that Scott Copeland cleared waivers and has accepted his outright assignment to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Copeland was DFA’d on Friday when the Mets recalled Jose Lobaton from Triple-A Las Vegas. The right-hander made one appearance for the Mets in which he went 1 1/3 innings and struck out two while allowing only one hit against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.

The 30-year old made five starts between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas this season and has gone 4-0 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings.

Before this brief stint with the Mets, he last appeared in the majors back in 2015 with the Toronto Blue Jays, in which he went 1-1, with a 6.46 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and six strikeouts in five games (three starts, 15 1/3 innings).
