Michael Conforto spoke with Mets reporters at spring training on Wednesday and talked about a topic that was a little surprising: the 2021 CBA negotiations (SNY).

MLB and the players union will have to negotiate a new CBA after the 2021 season and Conforto believes that, after a drama-filled offseason, the players will come together and unify for that.

“As far as our guys, I think we’re pretty unified in our answers and things that we wanted,” Conforto said. “The goal is to stay unified. I have no doubt that the league will come together. Right now, it’s tough with all the things that have been going on. I think the players union is going to very strong and unified when that time comes.”

Specifically with regards to the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, many players have been criticizing one another this offseason.

Conforto seems to be of the belief that there is a more common goal that the players need to be unified on and that is improving the conditions of the league for players under MLB commissioner Rob Manfred.

“There’s a fight coming in 2021,” Conforto noted. “A new CBA. It’s something we need to be focused on and something we need to be unified for when that time comes.”
