The New York Mets (78-69) defeated the Minnesota Twins (55-93) by a score of 3-0 tonight at Citi Field.
Pitching:
Bartolo Colon got the start for the Mets tonight against Minnesota and packed his A-game, tossing seven scoreless innings allowing only three hits and striking out six in the process.
Addison Reed struck out two in a clean inning in the eighth, and Jeurys Familia notched his 49th save in the ninth despite some drama as per usual.
Offense:
The Mets got on the scoreboard first in the third inning as Jose Reyes lead off the frame by launching his seventh homer of the year to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.
Asdrubal Cabrera was up next and played a little long ball himself as Reyes and himself went back-to-back. It was Cabrera’s 20th homer of the campaign.
The Mets tacked on an insurance run in the seventh as Yoenis Cespedes brought Alejandro De Aza home with a single.
