cody ross red soxCody Ross has reportedly agreed to a three year deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The free agent outfielder had been on the Mets radar, but as Craig Lerner wrote this morning, he was far removed from the Mets price range. No details yet on the dollars, but it could be around $26 million or thereabouts.

With the righthanded outfielder now in the ranks, the Diamondbacks now have a surplus of outfielders it seems with Justin Upton, Jason Kubel, Gerardo Parra and Adam Eaton all in the fold.

This could be a prelude to a Justin Upton trade, possibly to Texas? (Get that thought out of your head Mets fans, although it’s perfectly okay to dream.)

Ross, 31, batted .267/.326/.481 with 22 homers in 476 plate appearances for the Red Sox last season, and mashed lefty pitching to the tune of .295/.373/.636.

I can’t get the song Another One Bites The Dust out of my head.
