Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com reports that the Yoenis Cespedes received a cortisone injection in his wrist on Sunday and the team knew about it, despite the fact they still put him in the lineup that game.

Mickey Callaway also admitted the wrist was bothering the slugger on Sunday.

After being blessed with news this morning that Michael Conforto is ahead of his rehab schedule, it was immediately followed up with Yoenis Cespedes being scratched from today’s lineup.

Several sources say Cespedes has been walking around the clubhouse looking mostly intact this morning, which is great news for those of us that are constantly worrying about the man’s glass hamstrings. It looks as though it’s a wrist injury that’s going to keep him on the bench this afternoon.

As far as injury news goes, this is definitely best case scenario for the Mets. In the meantime, it looks like Cespedes will be day-to-day going forward. However, the Mets are still waiting on results from an x-ray Cespedes underwent earlier today.

The 32-year-old has gone 6-for-23 with three long balls so far this spring, including a big fly in Sunday’s matchup with the Astros.
