New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes continues to make progress in his rehab as he is now running to first base at full speed according to David Lennon of Newsday. However, Lennon also noted that he is not yet running at full speed as he makes the turns around the bases.

The Mets have been taking it slow with Cespedes, and according to Lennon are still not making any Opening Day predictions for the 34-year-old outfielder. However, the team remains hopeful that Cespedes is nearing the next step in the rehab process which would be to run the full bases in addition to serving as a DH in a simulated game.

Cespedes’ restructured contract will give him a $6 million base salary in 2020, but if he does not start the season on the injured reserve with a foot or ankle injury, that base will increase to $11 million.

The Mets have 19 days remaining until Opening Day to make a decision on whether Cespedes will be on the Opening Day roster or not.
