yoenis cespedes 2

The Mets have officially activated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the disabled list and optioned both TJ Rivera and Ty Kelly to Triple-A.

Cespedes has been out since August 3 with a strained quad, and had been playing through the injury for weeks before that. He and his .289/.362/.548 batting line will provide a much-needed boost to a struggling Mets offense. Cabrera left the Mets’ July 31 game with a strained patella tendon. He was in the middle of a bad slump, slashing just .212/.238/.368 in his previous 20 games.

Kelly, 28, has gone back and forth between the big league club and Triple-A a few times this year, and has been decent at the plate. He owns a .250/.351/.375 batting line on the year.

Rivera, 27, has impressed in two short weeks with the Mets. He’s hitting .355/.344/.419 in 32 plate appearances over nine games.
