The San Francisco postponed a news conference on Tuesday to introduce Carlos Correa after a medical issue arose, according to Ronald Blum of the Associated Press.

Correa reportedly agreed to a 13-year, $350 million contract with the Giants earlier this offseason. The former Astro recorded a 140 OPS+ and hit 22 home runs in 136 games last year with the Twins.

Blum wrote that sources confirmed that the press conference was delayed due to a medical issue that was flagged in Correa’s physical. Anonymous sources also reported to AP that both sides were awaiting the results of another test.

Correa was the Giants’ big acquisition of the 2022-2023 offseason after they missed out on Aaron Judge. The 13-year contract was the largest in Giants’ history and the second-largest in MLB history.

Correa has dealt with a multitude of injuries throughout his career. However, Sussan Slusser of the SF Chronicle confirmed that the medical issue was not a back ailment, which plagued him earlier in his career.

Before he signed with the Giants, the Mets were in deep conversations with Correa. The Mets reportedly had a nine-year, $300 million deal on the table for Correa but he opted to sign a longer deal with the Giants.
