Brandon Drury has signed a two-year, $17 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Drury split his 2022 season between the Reds and the Padres. The former Met had the best offensive season of his career, clubbing 28 home runs and 31 doubles in 138 games. For his stellar season, Drury was awarded the first NL Silver Slugger at the utility position in MLB history.

Drury joins an Angels team that has had an underrated offseason. The club previously added Tyler Anderson, Hunter Renfroe, Gio Urshela, and Carlos Estevez in the 2022-2023 off-season.

With Drury off the board, the Mets’ options to fill their right-handed designated hitter role are thin. JD Martinez signed with the Dodgers earlier in December and Michael Brantley re-signed with the Astros.

A Michael Conforto reunion has been rumored, but the Mets could go with internal options for the 2023 season. Other external options include AJ Pollock, Evan Longoria and Wil Myers.
