According to Andy Martino of SNY, the New York Mets have begun to whittle down their robust field of potential managerial candidates, with all signs pointing to Carlos Beltran moving into the next round of interviews.

As per Martino, “Carlos Beltran is expected to get a second in-person managerial interview”, adding that the 42-year-old former Flushing standout has Mets executives Omar Minaya and Allard Baird “in his corner”.

Beltran is one of eight known interviewees that the team has met in recent weeks — along with Joe Girardi, Mike Bell, Tim Bogar, Luis Rojas, Eduardo Perez, and Skip Schumaker — and the first known candidate to receive a second interview.

With an experienced veteran in Girardi reportedly weighing his options, the Mets appear to be continuing on in their search.
