Mickey Callaway did not start Asdrubal Cabrera tonight and, apparently, that is the result of an injury to the second baseman.
Callaway told the press prior to the game that Cabrera’s right hamstring has been “barking” and that is why he is getting the night off tonight, as detailed by SNY.
“He said he could have played today, but I made sure that he didn’t. Just give him a day of rest. We don’t need to lose him.”
The 32-year old is off to a fantastic start to the 2018 season as he currently has a slash line of .349/.391/.590 with four home runs and 12 RBI.
Wilmer Flores will make his first start of the season at second base and will hit fifth in the order.
