The Brooklyn Cyclones have announced their preliminary roster for the 2023 season. This is the roster that will take the field on April 7 at Maimonides Park against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws:

PITCHERS

Tyler Stuart
Jace Beck
Quinn Brodey
Jeffrey Colon
Joshua Cornielly
Cameron Foster
Jordan Geber
Blade Tidwell
Raimon Gomez
Daniel Juarez
Kolby Kubicheck
Nathan Lavender
Trey McLoughlin
Wilkin Ramos
Joander Suarez
Dylan Tebrake

The big name here is Tidwell, who was rated by MMN as the seventh best New York Mets prospect. Last year’s Second Round Draft pick posted a 2.16 ERA over four appearances between the FCL and St. Lucie Mets.

One surprise name here is Brodey. Brodey was the Mets’ 2017 Third Round Draft pick out of Stanford. The Mets had hoped he would be a promising left-handed hitting outfielder. Now, he is going to convert to a left-handed pitcher, and he is going to begin his journey at a fairly advanced level.

CATCHERS

Oscar Campos
Drake Osborne
Kevin Parada

Parada is the highest rated Mets prospect playing for Brooklyn to start the year. He has also been rated as the third best catching prospect in all of baseball. Like with Francisco Álvarez, Parada is a bat first catcher the organization hopes will take significant strides forward defensively behind the plate.

INFIELDERS

Cesar Berbesi
Chase Estep
Kevin Kendall
D’Andre Smith
William Lugo
Warren Saunders

Last season, Estep and Smith combined on a series ending double play which led to St. Lucie winning the Florida State League Championship. They are now going to be part of the middle infield for Brooklyn as they seek to win their first championship since 2019.

Kendall missed much of last year with a wrist injury. He had some impressive moments during the Arizona Fall League, and now, he looks to show he can again be the prospect who posted a 143 wRC+ in 2021 after the Mets made him their Seventh Round Draft selection.

OUTFIELDERS

Stanley Consuegra
Omar De Los Santos
Jaylen Palmer
Alex Ramírez
Joe Suozzi

The strength of the Brooklyn team will be with their outfield, highlighted by Ramírez. The righty bat is now a consensus top 100 prospect. He finished last season with Brooklyn, posting a 106 wRC+ despite being 3.5 years younger than league average.

Consuegra was able to put some injury plagued seasons behind him and moved more solidly towards prospect status last season. De Los Santos stole 70 bases, and he was one of three minor leaguers who stole 50 bases and hit 15 homers.
