Brewers general manager Matt Arnold is no longer in the running for the Mets president of baseball operations.

Per Adam McCalvy, Arnold has withdrawn his name from consideration.

The Brewers GM was promoted to the position last season and will remain there for the foreseeable future. Arnold’s withdrawal is another failure by the Mets front office to attract a top candidate for their president of baseball ops.

Currently, the only known candidates that haven’t withdrawn their names are Brian Sabean (who the Mets haven’t even spoken to) and  Josh Byrnes. Reports recently alluded to the Mets promoting an internal candidate like Tommy Tanous or Ian Levin.

In 24 hours Arnold went from the Mets top candidate for the job to out of consideration altogether. Arnold joins Theo Epstein, Billy Beane, Scott Harris, Peter Bendix, and Brandon Gomes as candidates who are uninterested in the Mets job.
