Brewers 3(96-67) , Cubs 1 (95-68) Box Score

In the first of two Game 163s, the Brewers defeated the Cubs 3-1 in Chicago.

The Brewers were lead by Jhoulys Chacin who went 5.2 innings and allowed one run, a bomb off the bat of Anthony Rizzo in the fifth.

Chacin was then replaced by one of baseball’s best bullpens, which delivered 3.1 scoreless innings.

Joakim Soria struck out Javier Baez to end a Cubs threat in the sixth. Corey Knebel and Josh Hader combined for three scoreless innings to close the door in the Windy City.

On the offensive side, Orlando Arcia had his first career four-hit game, which could not have been timed any better.

The star-studded outfield of Ryan Braun, Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain all drove in a run, Braun’s and Cain’s being in the later innings during crunch time.

The Cubs only mustered three hits behind a solid outing from Jose Quintana, who went five innings, scattered six hits, allowed one run, and struck out four.

The Brewers will host the winner of the Wild Card Game in Milwaukee, and have home-field advantage through the course of the post season.

Dodgers 5 (92-71), Rockies 2 (91-72) Box Score

The second of the two games, Colorado at Los Angeles, saw more intense action.

The Dodgers jumped on German Marquez early, pushing four across before chasing him in the fifth.

Belinger and Muncy both continued fine seasons with home runs, and even Walker Buehler drove in a run.

Speaking of Buehler, he carried a no-hit bid into the sixth against arguably the best lineup in the National League.

The Rockies were shut out until Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story went back-to-back off of Kenley Jansen in the ninth, but their efforts fell fruitless.

Jansen finished out the ninth, securing a 5-2 victory for the Dodgers in Chavez Ravine, where they will stay as the Atlanta Braves will come to town as the 3 seed.

Whats Next For Colorado And Chicago?

The Cubs will host the Rockies on Tuesday night in Chicago for the National League Wild Card Game, where John Lester will face Kyle Freeland at 8:00 PM ET. The winner will go to Milwaukee and face the Brewers in the National League Divisional Series.
