Maybe Brett Baty really likes the desert.
Baseball’s No. 45 overall prospect is now hitting .444 with a 1.287 OPS in the Salt River Rafters five games. Baty hit two balls over 102 miles per hour, including his double in the bottom of the sixth and groundout in the third inning that scored a run.

Baty finished his night 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. He also struck out twice.
“Both of those were really good swings,” Baty said. “Just got to have a better swing on that ground ball. I was happy with those two [at-bats] for sure, and then the other two, I’ve just got to stay within myself. Just tried to get too big. I felt like I had a good day.”
Baty hasn’t had many opportunities at third base so far but he’s been pleased with what he’s done at the hot corner.
“I feel like I’m doing a good job over there at third base,” Baty said. “Made all the plays that have come to me. It’s been a few, but I feel way more comfortable and am feeling way more confident so that’s good.”
Reye’s single in the eighth inning scored the game-winning run. Holderman was the only pitcher for Salt River to not allow a run.
The Rafters are set to play the 0-5 Javelinas today at 2:35 EST.
