Adam Rubin of ESPN reports that left-handed reliever Dario Alvarez was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday,
Alvarez had been designated for assignment by the New York Mets on Monday after they promoted utility player Ty Kelly from Triple-A Las Vegas and was added to the 40 man roster.
Alvarez, 27, had a 3.01 ERA and 1.212 WHIP over seven minor league seasons with a 11.0 K/9 rate.
