Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo will move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Syracuse Tuesday evening, according to reports by SNY‘s Andy Martino. Nimmo, who suffered a bulging cervical disc early in the season, has been out since May 20.

Nimmo began his rehab assignment for the High-A St. Lucie Mets last week where he played two games on August 16 and August 18, batting second and DH’ing.

His advancement to Triple-A means Nimmo may be returning to the Big Apple before the Braves series on Friday. Prior to being placed on the IL, he was hitting .200/.344/.323 in 43 games, though it is likely he was playing injured during that time.

A healthy Nimmo before a tough series could be instrumental for the success of the team, as he has proven to be an electric player evidenced by his 149 wRC+ and 4.5 fWAR in 2018.
