MLB Network released their top 10 left fielders in baseball on Thursday and Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is ranked sixth.

The full top list is as follows:

  1. Jesse Winker
  2. Joey Gallo
  3. Christian Yelich
  4. Michael Brantley
  5. Kyle Schwarber
  6. Brandon Nimmo
  7. Tyler O’Neill
  8. AJ Pollock
  9. Austin Meadows
  10. Marcell Ozuna

Interestingly, Nimmo only played in 10 games in left field last season and is expected to play a bulk of his games in center field in 2022. Expected center fielder Starling Marte will slide to right field for the much improved defender in Nimmo. The 28-year-old Nimmo posted career-best center field defensive numbers with four defensive runs saved, four outs above average, and 6.2 UZR/150.

Offensively, Nimmo slashed .292/.401/.437 with 17 doubles, three triples, and eight home runs in 92 games for the Mets last season. The biggest struggle for Nimmo continues to be staying healthy, and that will be a huge key for the impending free agent.

As for the rest of the rankings from MLB Network; the Mets had two of the top three pitchers in baseball with Jacob deGrom at No. 1 and Max Scherzer at No. 3. Jeff McNeil was No. 9 among second baseman, James McCann was No. 9 among catchers, Mark Canha came in at No. 9 in right field, Francisco Lindor was chosen as the No. 9 shortstop in MLB, and Pete Alonso as the No. 6 first baseman in the game.
