According to Buster Olney on Twitter, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed Steve Pearce to a two year deal worth $12.5 million.
Pearce, 33, hit .288/.374/.492 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs for the Orioles and Rays in 2016. The utility man played every infield position except shortstop as well as both corner outfield spots, while also serving as DH in 12 games.
He obliterates lefties as he had an 1.028 OPS against them in 2016 and has an .852 career OPS against them.
This signing all but closes the book on Edwin Encarnacion‘s return to the Blue Jays.
