The Mets announced that Jason Bay will be activated from the disabled list on Thursday, two days later than he would have been eligible on Tuesday.

Bay was in New York today to meet with Sandy Alderson, Terry Collins, and team doctors, and it was decided he needed more time before being activated.

Due to the cold weather in Buffalo and Binghamton, Bay will return to Florida and play two more rehab games tomorrow and Wednesday for Single-A St. Lucie.

Bay last played for the Mets on July 25, 2010 when he suffered a concussion.

His replacements in left field this season have been awful and have combined to hit just .233 with a .690 OPS.
