The New York Mets announced on Friday night that Bartolo Colón will officially retire on September 17 at Citi Field. The first 15,000 fans will get the following shirt:

“I played with a lot of teams during my career but playing for the Mets was very special to me,” said Colón. “The fans treated me great and I can’t wait to celebrate my career with them on September 17.”

Colón was at Citi Field on May 7 to throw out the first pitch to commemorate the seven-year anniversary of his epic home run in San Diego.

Colón went 44-34 with a 3.98 ERA in 588 2/3 innings over three seasons with the Mets.
