Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera both played six innings for High-A St. Lucie on Wednesday as they continued their rehab assignments.

After tonight’s 13-5 loss to Arizona, manager Terry Collins said Cabrera will be activated on Thursday when the Mets begin a four game series with the Giants in San Francisco.

The team is expected to option a reliever to Las Vegas to make room for Cabrera.

Mets infielder Asdrubal Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a double and run scored while playing four innings at shortstop in his first game on a rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie on Tuesday.

“I felt really good,” Cabrera told a team representative. “I felt comfortable running the bases and in the field. I plan on playing seven innings at short tomorrow.”

Cabrera was playing in his first game action since suffering a strained patellar tendon in his left knee. He hopes to rejoin the Mets this weekend when they face the Giants in San Francisco.

Cabrera, 30, was hitting .255 with 19 doubles, 13 home runs, 42 runs scored and 33 RBI in 403 plate appearances before he went on the disabled list.
