Asdrubal, Cabrera

Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was named the National League Player of the Week for the Week of August 21 – 27.  During the week, Cabrera hit .545/.583/1.136 with five runs, four doubles, three homers, eight RBI, and one stolen base.  Additionally, Cabrera made a couple of spectacular plays in the field.

This past week was emblematic of Cabrera’s hot hitting since he was activated from the disabled list on August 19th.  During his current hot streak, Cabrera is hitting .455/.472/.848 with five runs, four doubles, three homers, and nine RBI.  On the season, Cabrera is hitting .271/.321/.446 in 109 games for the Mets.

After a collision at first base with Phillies first baseman Tommy Joseph, he had to leave yesterday’s game with a re-aggravation of his existing knee injury.  Cabrera is out of today’s lineup, and it is presently unknown when he will be able to return to the lineup.
