The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired outfielder Justin Upton from the Detroit Tigers for pitching prospect Grayson Long.

Upton, 30, is hitting .279/.362/.542 with 37 doubles, 28 home runs and 94 RBI in 125 games this season. Also had 10 defensive runs saved in left field for the Tigers.

Upton can opt-out of his deal this contract this offseason. If the slugger decides to stay with the Angels he will have four years, $88.5 million left on his deal.

Long, 23, was a third round pick of the Angels in 2015 and was ranked as their No. 9 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He’s 8-8 with a 2.69 ERA and 1.17 WHIP between two levels this season.

The Angels also lost veteran outfielder Cameron Maybin to the Houston Astros. Maybin, 30, is slashing .235/.333/.351 with 29 stolen bases this season and is a pending free agent.

Angels begin the day only one game back from a Wild Card spot in the American League.
